Description:

On the occasion of Earth Day, Jagriti Loreto Vidyalaya organized a special awareness walkathon and rally, with enthusiastic participation from both students and teachers. The initiative aimed to spread environmental awareness and reinforce our collective responsibility to protect our planet.

The event commenced at 10:45 AM, as participants gathered at Gate No. 2 of the school. The program began with a warm welcome address by Ma’am Manjula, who highlighted the significance of Earth Day and encouraged students to reflect on their role in environmental stewardship. Following this, Sister Amiya delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the urgent need for environmental conservation and motivating students to be active contributors to this noble cause.

At 11:00 AM, the walkathon began. Students carried vibrant banners and chanted slogans such as “Save the Future,” “Save the Earth,” and “Plant a Tree, Get Life.” The rally proceeded from Gate No. 2 to Gate No. 6, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere, echoing with voices committed to positive change.

As part of the Earth Day celebration program, the school's alumnae graciously contributed to the event by distributing water bottles, biscuits, and juice to all participants — a gesture deeply appreciated by everyone present.

Adding a special touch to the day’s festivities, Mrs. Joshi and her son conducted a heartwarming Vrksha Bandhan activity, where they symbolically tied rakhis to trees, promoting the idea of trees as lifelong protectors and companions. This unique initiative beautifully reflected the spirit of nurturing and safeguarding nature.

The event concluded at Gate No. 6, where Ma’am Monica Day delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. She expressed her appreciation to all the participants for their enthusiasm and support in making the event a success. Refreshments, including water bottles and biscuits, were distributed to all attendees, and the students were formally dispersed.

This rally served as a powerful reminder that Earth Day is not just a one-day observance, but a daily commitment. As echoed in the students’ message:

“The Earth is ours — its future is in our hands.”
